UPV inaugurates facilities, unveils plans

The University of the Philippines Visayas honors the Class of 2016 in 37th Commencement Exercises

The University of the Philippines Visayas 37th Commencement Exercises presented a new generation of Iskolar ng Bayan in service to the University and the country on 24 June 2016 at the Iloilo Convention Center.
At this year’s graduation ceremony were 977 graduates from the College of Management, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, School of Technology, and the College of Arts and Sciences with 7 magna cum laude and 78 cum laude recipients.

Alumni in Wisconsin continue to adopt students

Keeping its commitment to help state scholars graduate, the UP Alumni Association of Wisconsin (UPAAW) donated US$ 2,920 or about PhP 131,400 to UP’s Adopt-a-Student Program in August 2015, benefiting 13 graduating students this semester in UP Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC), who had been affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
The award, worth P10,000 of allowances per student, is intended to help ensure that the students complete their degrees on time.

Duyan Ka Ng Magiting on display at UPV Admin Building

Duyan Ka Ng Magiting an installation by artist and UP professor Martin Genodepa, is currently on view at the Administration Building in Miagao, Iloilo campus until December 3, 2015.
The installation consists of several pieces of duyan (rattan hammock) hung on the main pillars of the façade of the building which faces the flagpole and the Oblation, the national university’s symbol.
The artwork is basically inspired by a line in Lupang Hinirang, the Philippine national anthem. …

UP Visayas Tacloban College gets 100% pass rate in CPA board exam

The University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) achieved another milestone after getting a perfect passing rate in the recently-concluded Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination.
All of the 25 graduates of UPVTC’s BS Accountancy program from the Class of 2015, as well as two re-takers, passed the highly-competitive examinations held earlier in October, based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission.
A total of 5,468 out of 13,317 accountancy graduates, or 41.06 percent, passed the examination administered by the Board of Accountancy in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, …

All systems go for new UP campus in Tacloban City

It’s all systems go for the University of the Philippines Visayas Tacloban College (UPVTC) and UP Manila School of Health Sciences ( UPM SHS) Palo’s transfer to a new campus in Barangay Santa Elena, Tacloban City. This development came after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved the funding for the construction of the access road from the national highway to the campus site recently.
An initial P246 million was approved by the DBM as funding for the road network, drainage and lighting system for the new UP campus in Santa Elena.
