UPOU confers 361 degrees, holds investiture of 4th chancellor

Twin events marked July 30 for the UP Open University (UPOU). It held its 20th commencement exercises and the investiture of its fourth chancellor, Dr. Melinda Bandalaria, at its headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna.
In the graduate level of the 361-strong Class of 2016, nine made it to the Chancellor’s List and 12 to the Dean’s List.
UP President Alfredo Pascual, in his speech, addressed both the graduating class and Chancellor Bandalaria.

UPOU’s NCODeL2015 to be held on 5 November

The 4th National Conference on Open and Distance e-Learning (NCODeL2015) will be held on 5-6 November 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Ortigas, Metro Manila.
The conference is organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in cooperation with the Philippine Society for Distance Education (PSDL) and UPOU Foundation, Inc. (UPOUFI), for administrators, academics, teachers and researchers of Philippine higher education institutions (HEIs) and technical and vocational institutions (TVIs) who are engaged or interested in open learning, distance education, and technology-supported learning.

UPOU celebrates 20 years as achiever of UP mandates

UPOU Disaster Risk Management MOOC in the Pipeline

The UP Open University (UPOU) has been planning for the development of a massive open online course (MOOC) on disaster risk management even before Typhoon Yolanda devastated central Philippines.
According to Prof. Primo Garcia, UPOU Information Office director, the “Yolanda experience” has reiterated the need for a more concerted and proactive approach to natural disaster management. This is why the planned MOOC will be offered for free so that it can equip more individuals and institutions in meeting and overcoming challenges in disaster management.
