At the UP Manila Welcome Freshmen Assembly held on August 1st at the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Auditorium in Manila, UP Manila Chancellor Carmencita D. Padilla opened the program with a message to the new batch of Iskolar ng Bayan entering the University.

Taking oath before University of the Philippines President Alfredo E. Pascual as the UP System’s new Faculty Regent is Associate Professor Philip Ian Prieto Padilla, MD, PhD of University of the Philippines Visayas. The oath taking was held on 6 January 2015 at Quezon Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City.
Professor Padilla, who received his doctorate degree in Medical Science at the Nagasaki University, specializing in Cell and Molecular Biology as well as Tropical Medicine and Public Health, will serve a two-year term succeeding Regent Professor Lourdes E. Abadingo.
