The UP Manila Community Health and Development Program (UP CHDP)

The UP CHDP is the UP Manila unit mandated by the University to enter into partnerships with Philippine municipalities to set up and maintain community-based health programs (CBHPs) that will benefit both parties. It provides the site for UP faculty, staff and students’ curricular (academic) immersion and service activities.

UPM breaks ground for new P1B NIH building

UP President Alfredo Pascual called it “our biggest infrastructure project.” He was referring to the new National Institutes of Health (NIH) building in UP Manila (UPM) at the groundbreaking ceremony held on July 20.

UP Manila, DOH and HSP to hold Hepatitis Forum on 3 Nov

The Department of Health (DOH), in cooperation with the Hepatology Society of the Philippines (HSP) and the University of the Philippines Manila-National Institutes of Health (UPM-NIH), will hold a forum, “Forging Partnerships To Combat Chronic Viral Hepatitis: A Partners Forum”, on 3 November 2015 to discuss the various components of a comprehensive multisectoral response to the problem of Hepatitis B and C in the country. It will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Treat survivors quickly: doctor

Ahealth expert from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila said authorities should keep an eye on evacuees from typhoon-ravaged Eastern Visayas for they might be carrying parasitic diseases with them.
Dr. Vicente Belizario Jr., the UP National Institutes of Health executive director, said physicians should thoroughly check the survivors if they have illnesses caused by parasites like worms.
