The UP Alumni Association in America, Inc. (UPAAA) and the UP Alumni Association-Nevada (UPAAN) turned over to the university US$ 13,400 on January 27, 2015 to establish a student scholarship grant at the College of Arts and Sciences of either UP Visayas or UP Mindanao.

UPAAA, represented by its president Dr. Romulo F. Aquino, signed the deed of donation with UP President Alfredo E. Pascual. The signatory for UPAAN is its president, Elizabeth R. Ilagan, who could not make it to the event.

The signing, held at the office of the UP president in Quezon Hall, UP, Diliman, Quezon City, was witnessed by UPAAA Vice President Erlinda Rojas Santos, University of Michigan Professor Emeritus Esperanza Ramirez-Christensen of UPAA-Michigan, and UP Foundation Director Gerardo Agulto Jr.

They hope to grant the scholarship to financially needy but good-standing students beginning the first semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. The UPAAA Inc. Scholarship Grant covers the student’s matriculation fees, book allowance, a monthly stipend, and transportation and other expenses.
